ALFONSO CALDERON DE CASTRO Nasce a Malaga nel 1970, si inizia molto presto alla musica, grazie a sua Madre, insegnante di piano e di Stephanie Cambier (alunna di Alfred Cortot e Edwin Fischer). Una volta ultimata la sua formazione a Malaga, completa i suoi studi nel Conservatorio Superiore di Siviglia, ottenendo massimi voti con la professoressa Ana Guijarro. Conclusa la sua formazione nel Conservatorio, nel 1996 si trasferisce in Germania (Freibourg im Breisgau), dove frequenta corsi di perfezionamento con il profesor  Tibor Szasz. Realizza corsi e Master in Spagna e all’estero con i seguenti professori: Elza Kolodin, Lilya Zilberstein, Vitali Margulis, Rudolf Keherer, Asir Rosemberg, Stephanie Cambier, Jose Felipe Diaz y Joaquin Achucarro……, partecipando allo stesso tempo a numerosi concerti sia come solista che in gruppi cameristici. Nel 1993 vince il concorso del Conservatorio con specializzazione Piano e diviene professore di Piano nel Conservatorio Elemental di Musica di Fuengirola, dove impartisce lezioni fino al 2003. E’ a partire da questo stesso anno, scelto da Juventudes Musicales di Andalucia, realizza un tour di concerti realizzati dalla stessa regione. Nel 2000 è stato coordinatore generale del Progetto Internazionale Comenius I con il titolo “Musica Popolare” nel quale parteciparono Spagna, Italia e Portogallo. Nel Maggio del 2003 esegue a Siviglia i “Due preludi per pianoforte” del compositore spagnolo e direttore di orchestra Pedro Halffter. Ha collaborato con la rivista musicale “Hoquet” come articolista, e come esponente della Settimana della Musica contemporanea del Conservatorio Superior di Malaga esibendosi in detta istituzione La Klavierstucke IX de Stockhausen. Ha anche ricevuto critiche da Justo Romero, critico musicale di El Mundo, “pianista dotato di straordinarie capacità, plasmato in pezzi (cover) esultanti, energetiche, e di convincente autorità, con virtù che sposano l’ipervirtuosismo; artista esperto, estroverso, luminoso  e solidamente formato”. Le sue esperienze all’estero si sono svolte in paesi come: Svizzera, Italia, Germania, Francia, Portogallo, Polonia e Norvegia. Nel Luglio del 2007 ha partecipato al festival CIMA della Toscana, (Concerti in Monte Argentario) per il 250°Anniversario della morte di Domenico Scarlatti. E’stato premiato con il premio Interpretazione Musicale del 2007 dell’associazione Amigos del Colegio de Spagna di Parigi, che lo porta all’incisione di un disco prodotto da INAEM. Ha vissuto a Parigi nella CIUP (Cité Internationale Universitarie di Parigi) perfezionandosi con i maestri Jorge Chamine e Marie Francoise Bucquet. Attualmente occupa una cattedra nel Conservatorio Superiore di Siviglia “Manuel Castillo” nella spacialità Pianoforte. Bisogna sottolineare che l’orientazione pianistica di Alfonso Calderon de Castro, si basa sull’eredità della Scuola di Tecnica pianistica di Busoni. 

  

ALFONSO CALDERON DE CASTRO   Alfonso Calderón de Castro, born in Málaga, Spain, in 1970, meets the world of music at an early age thanks to the influence of his mother, a piano teacher, and with the teaching guidance of Stephanie Cambier (Alfred Cortot and Edwin Fischer ‘s pupil)
He starts his musical studies at the Conservatory of Music of Málaga and finishes his superior studies with the highest marks at the Conservatory of Music of Sevilla under the tutorship of professor Ana Gujarro.
Once he finishes his superior studies he moves to Freibourg im Breisgau , Germany to perfect with Professor Tibor Szasz.
He also attends courses and master classes in Spain and in Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Poland, Germany and France with professors such as Elza Kolodin, Lilya Zilberstein, Vitali Margulis, Rudolf Kehrer, Asir Rosemberg, Stephanie Cambier, José Felipe Díaz and Joaquín Achúcarro…
In 1993 he competes for and wins the place of permanent piano professor by public exam and starts working at the Professional Music Conservatory in Fuengirola, Málaga, until 2003.
During this period he combines his teaching work with his profession as a concert pianist, playing the piano as a soloist as well as in chamber music orchestras.
In 2000 he is appointed general project manager of the” International Comenius Project I” , where Spain, Italy and Portugal participate. The project deals with Popular Music
In 2003 he is chosen to take part as the soloist on tour with the “Juventudes Musicales de Andalucia” .
In May 2003 he performs the world premiere of composer and orchestra conductor Pedro Halffter’s “ Dos Preludios para piano”, in Seville.
In 2005 He collaborates on the journal Hoquet as a feature writer and he is also the speaker on “The week of Contemporary music” held at the Conservatory of Music in Málaga, where he performs “Klavierstücke IX by Stockhausen” receiving the following critic by Justo Romero, the musical critic of the newspaper “ El mundo” :
“ …pianist gifted by powerful means, performing in jubilant, energetic versions and of convincing authority with power matching hipervirtuosity ; a hardened,extroverted, bright and soundly shaped artist…”
In 2007 he takes part in the festival CIMA , Toscana, Italy (Concerti in Monte Argentario) commemorating the 250th aniversary of Domenico Scarlatti’s death.
In the same year he is awarded the Music Performing Prize of the association “Friends of the Spanish College” in Paris, consisting of the recording of a CD edited by INAEM.
In 2008 He is given a scholarship by Junta de Andalucía to do research on Scarlatti’s sonatas, living during the academic course 2008-09, in CIUP (Cité Internationale Universitarie, Paris), where he continues to perfect with the professors Jorge Chamine and Marie-Françoise Bucquet.
During the academic course 2009-10, he will start working as a professor in the “Conservatorio Superior Manuel Castillo” in Sevilla, as soon as he finishes his research.
It must be added that Alfonso Calderón’s pianistic orientation is greatly influenced by Busoni´s pianistic technique.
