GERALD ANDERS nato nello Stato della Virginia (U.S.A.), è organista e direttore d’ orchestra; del Coro della Chiesa Community di Douglaston; di quello maschile di Bayside in New Vork. Ha studiato pianoforte sotto la guida di Louis Balle, Maurice Hanson, Issidor Philipp e si è laureato con Richard Tetley Kardos, Josef Hoffman. Come organista ha operato in comune con Gordon Wilson e James Pethel. Ha diretto vari programmi di Performance e Usual Arts in parecchie scuole statunitensi, dove è stato anche docente come pianista, organista, direttore d’orchestra e di coro e non solo negli Stati Uniti ma anche in Europa.
E stato direttore dell’ Arte in Educazione Musicale per il Piccolo dell’Opera, e ha suonato con l’Orchestra di Cleveland dove era responsabile per le notazioni dei programmi.
Le sue rappresentazioni musicali sono sempre accolte entusiasticamente ovunque in moltissime società musicali: Pi Kappa Lamba, Who’s in Music, American Guild of Organists, Società di Musica Americana, Piano Guild. I suoi allievi, che hanno anche frequentato la Juillard School, la Manhattan School of Music, Mannes College of Music, la Cambridge, la Harvard; la Vale, la Bracon University e l’Oberlin College Conservatory sono apparsi largamente negli Stati Uniti e in Europa, sono apparsi largamente anche in Europa dove hanno ampissimi consensi. Nell’ agosto del 2003 ha avuto il privilegio di suonare i più importanti organi storici d’ltalia tra cui quello di Verona e quello della Chiesa di S. Maria del XVI secolo e quello della Chiesa di Tommaso Becket, nonchè quello del periodo barocco famoso per l’ esibizione di W.A. Mozart, tredicenne, avvenuta nel 1769.

 

 

GERALD ANDERS, a native of Virginia, is currently the Organist-Choir Director of the Community Church of Douglaston and Music Director of the Bayside Men’s Glee Club, both in New York City.  He has been the director of extensive Performing and Visual Arts programs in several New York independent schools.  He has taught, coached and performed in the United States and Europe as pianist, organist and conductor of orchestras and choruses.  He has appeared frequently in recitals with numerous singers and players. His undergraduate piano teacher was Louis Ball whose teacher, Maurice Hinson, studied with Issidor Philipp.  His graduate piano studies were with Richard Tetley-Kardos, a student of Josef Hoffman.  As an organist, he worked with Gordon Wilson and James Pethel. Mr. Anders is currently the Artistic Director of Douglaston Concerts, a professional chamber music concerts series. He was Director of Arts in Education for Il Piccolo del’Opera, and also on the staff of The Cleveland Orchestra where he wrote annotations for concert programs and recordings and also prepared education materials. Elected to the music honorary fraternity, Pi Kappa Lambda, he has been listed in Who’s Who in Music since 1988.  Mr. Anders is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association, American Guild of Organists, Society for American Music, and the Piano Guild.  Students of Mr. Anders have appeared widely in the US and Europe and attended such schools as The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Mannes College of Music, Cambridge University, Harvard, Yale, Brown, and Oberlin College-Conservatory.
In August 2003, Mr. Anders was privileged to play two of Italy’s most important historic organs, both in Verona.  The instrument in Chiesa Santa Maria in Organo originaloly dates from the 16th century with subsequent additions and restorations.  The second organ is in the Chiesa da San Tomasa a Becket.  It is a large Baroque organ famed because the 13 year old Mozart played there in 1769.
