New York City’s ’upper west side’ is the home of Julie’s teaching studio, filled with two pianos and often, students who travel from some distance. It is clear that Dr. Jordan thrives on teaching which has added a significant dimension to her own playing. Guiding pianists towards an independent point of view, Julie Jordan encourages her students to listen with their own ears for color, harmonic understanding and balance that makes the structure whole, while they tell a story through their own playing. Blessed with extraordinary teachers, who were pupils of the legendary pianists Artur Schnabel, Edwin Fischer and David Saperton, Dr. Jordan savors the riches from her pedagogues: Aube Tzerko, Adolph Baller, Tanya Ury and Abbey Simon. Julie Jordan’s performances have been broadcast on the radio stations of WQXR, and WNYC in Manhattan and KDFC and KKHI in San Francisco. “…Miss Jordan was completely in charge of things, executing the ornamental runs and trills with precision and polish and bringing out all the formal elegance of the work. Her manner at the keyboard was irreproachable.” (Kenneth Brown of Santa Babara’s Newspress) Julie Jordan’s upcoming chamber music evening with internationally acclaimed performing artists: Berit Cardas, violin; Patrick Cardas, viola; Emery Cardas, cello; Lisa Lee, violin; Melanie Lee Mazur, piano at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, is on June 3, 2009, Wednesday at 8 PM. www.juliejordan.us dr.juliejordan1@gmail.com
